Tenacious D Eat Hot Wings & Discuss The Time They Got Booed Off Stage

Tenacious D were the latest victims, er, guests, on the First We Feast YouTube series "Hot Ones." Jack Black and Kevin Gass ate chicken wings that got hotter as the episode went on, while host Sean Evans asked them equally heated questions.

After debunking the myth that Gass couldn't stand Black when they first met and confirming that the comedy alt-rockers did indeed produce an earthquake during a show in New Zealand, Evans asked what was the duo's most disastrous live performance.

"Oh, well that's pretty easy," Gass replied without hesitation, as he looked over at his band mate. "The Miller Genuine Draft."

"Yup, that was a fiasco," Black agreed.

They explained how the beer mogul put on a promotional concert called MGD Blind Date where fans were flown to Las Vegas to see a secret band.

"They fly you out and they don't tell you who the band is," Black explained. "So everyone's like 'Oh man I bet it's probably going to be U2, it's probably going to be Led Zeppelin.' And then the curtain opens, and it's all these drunk people from all over the country that have been flown to Vegas, and it's Tenacious D! And they just immediately 'BOOOO!'"

Gass chimed in that the concert happened in '98, and nobody knew who they were. "It was literally like a nightmare," he said, reliving the horror. Black chose to see the silver lining, though.

"I felt like after that we got stronger. We were stronger because of that, because there was something really funny about being booed that hard, too," he said. "In a way, it might've been our best show."

Later on in the episode, Evans brought up Kanye West giving the band a shout out. Black praised the rapper before getting real. "I love Kanye, I think he's got great, great jams—really good jams," he gushed, "but he also gave Donald Trump a shout out, and that guy's a douche, so it's weird. It's like, wait does that take away from the compliment that he gave to us?"

As the wings got hotter, Black and Gass began to lose it (which was hilarious). After the last wing was devoured, they performed an impromptu ditty about the wings being too hot.

Watch the whole shenanigan-filled episode below, and look out for their new album Post-Apocalypto (featuring Dave Grohl on drums) on November 2nd.
