We’re just 2 days away from The Peachtree Road Race on July 4th! In recent years, over 60,000 people have run in the event, which has been dubbed the World's Largest 10K! Here are a few details regarding the race we thought you might find helpful:
The race starts at Peachtree Road near Lenox Towers and Lenox Square Mall. Runners will start in waves beginning with Wheelchair Start at 6:25 a.m., Elite Women at 6:50 a.m. then Elite Men & Seeded and Wave A at 7 a.m. Every 5 minutes groups will begin the race until Wave Y starts at 8:40 a.m.
At midnight on July 4, Peachtree Road between Lenox Road and around Lenox Parkway will close. Several roads will be unavailable July 4th morning starting at 4:30 a.m. for vehicular traffic and 6:00 a.m. for foot traffic. FULL LIST OF CLOSURES.
TRANSPORTATION TO THE RACE:
The morning of the race Participants and spectators are strongly encouraged to take MARTA. Runners can use the Lenox station for the start and the Midtown or Art Center station for the finish. There is no parking available at the start or finish.
BEST PLACES TO WATCH THE RACE:
- START: Spectators should plan to be in the Buckhead shopping areas for a good view of the runners starting the race.
- MIDDLE: In the middle of the race, the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center, Piedmont Hospital and our very own IHeartMedia building are good spots to see.
- FINISH: Towards the end of the race, runners can be seen clearly at the corner of Peachtree and 10th Streets.
