By now we know about E-scooters in Atlanta....not allowed on the sidewalks, too dangerous in the streets, so what do we do now? It's a mess! But Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is working on a solution that's best for everyone..Lance Bottoms wants to add 20 miles of protected lanes for bikes and e-scooters. These protected lanes for bikes and scooters will look similar to the white plastic barriers that line up along 10th Street near Piedmont Park so there is some sort of physical barrier between cars, scooters and bikes - This comes after four fatal accidents in metro Atlanta since May. Atlanta currently has 4 miles of protected lanes around Midtown. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced on Wednesday, the city will add eight miles of newly-protected lanes and make other safety improvements to an additional 12 miles of roads throughout midtown, downtown and Buckhead. City officials anticipate the project to be completed by 2021.
