On Tuesday an Atlanta Federal Judge blocked Georgia's controversial abortion law, the Heartbeat Bill, proposed earlier this year Governor by Brian Kemp. Judge Steven C. Jones kept the new anti-abortion law from taking effect January 1, 2020 in the State of Georgia - The law states that there will be no abortions after about six weeks, which is when a fetal heartbeat is usually first detected. Judge Jones gave a statement, "Under no circumstances whatsoever may a State prohibit or ban abortions at any point prior to viability, no matter what interests the State asserts to support it. What's next? The bill will remain in a holding pattern until court challenges to the new law make their way through the nation's judicial system. Brian Kemp did not make a statement after the ruling on Tuesday.
