Matt Wain is chief executive officer of Emory University Hospital, Emory University Orthopedics & Spine Hospital and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods. He is responsible for the overall operations and resources at the three facilities, which are part of the larger Emory Healthcare system. Emory University Hospital has 751 licensed beds, including 82 beds at Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods and a combined staff of more than 4,300. Emory University Orthopedics & Spine Hospital has 120 licensed beds and employees nearly 300 staff members.
Wain joined Emory Healthcare in August of this year from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health in Charleston. There, he served as chief operating officer for the four MUSC hospitals and related ambulatory clinics for six years.
Prior to joining MUSC, Wain worked in a progression of leadership roles at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania from 2001 to 2013, culminating in chief administrative officer. Wain began his professional career as an active duty military officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot. He retired from the reserve component of military service in 2008.
Wain is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and earned a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Worldwide) in Daytona Beach, Florida.
