Well, here's something "you oughta know!"
An iconic 90's album is getting it's own musical. That's right the "Jagged Little Pill" album by Alanis Morrissette is being turned into a musical!
This is one of my favorite albums of all-time so this could be really great!
Even better are the people involved with the production. The project, which has been in development since 2014, has the music being arranged by Tom Kitt who did the same for Green Day musical American Idiot. The writer of the production is none other than Diablo Cody very well known for writing a bunch of great movies which include Juno!
According to a new press release, the show is scheduled to premiere in 2018 and is about “a modern and multi-generational family and their complex dynamics, touching on issues of gender identity and race.”
Here's what Alanis herself had to say about the project:
“This team that has come together for this Jagged Little Pill musical is my musical theater dream come true. The chemistry between all of us is crackling and I feel honored to be diving into these songs again, surrounded by all of this searing talent. Diablo and Diane are already taking these deeply personal songs that are part of my soul’s marrow to a whole other level of hope, freedom, and complexity.”
As apposed to Broadway, the show will apparently get it's first premiere in Massachusetts.
I can't wait to see this!
