While many of us know that Dave Grohl started the Foo Fighters as a solo side project from Nirvana, we might not have heard this before!
Did you know that Grohl's inspiration for the project came from the one and only Mr. Lenny Kravitz??
In a new interview with Billboard Chart Beat Podcast, Grohl reveals that it was listening to how Lenny made his album where he played ALL the parts that made him think maybe he could do it too!
“I started recording songs myself and playing all the instruments when I was, maybe, 18 or 19 years old. I had a friend who had a studio in Virginia, and I remember hearing the first Lenny Kravtiz record, and someone told me ‘yeah he plays drums and instruments on all those songs’ and I thought ‘wow, that’s cool, he can go into the studio by himself and make another record.’ He’s a f**king great drummer, an amazing drummer – but anyway... I was recording the songs by myself, letting my sisters do them and letting my friends sing them but I never for one minute thought that it would be a band, or that the world would hear them.”
Pretty cool that this was his inspiration to do what has become such a monumental band, right?
