Have you ever been playing popular video game Fortnite and thought "Wait...this character is dancing a lot like Carlton from "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air?" Well, it seems that Carlton thinks so too...well, Alfonso Ribeiro that is!
Yup, the actor who made the dance super popular is not happy with the video game using his dance and is suing Epic Games, the company that makes it.
According to TMZ, the game's Fresh emote as mimicking his iconic move.
The issue? He doesn't have a copyright on the dance, but does say he is WORKING on getting one. Hmmm...
Ribeiro's lawyer says:
‘It is widely recognized that Mr. Ribeiro’s likeness and intellectual property have been misappropriated by Epic Games in the most popular video game currently in the world,Fortnite."
“Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like ‘Fresh,’ yet Epic has failed to compensate or even ask permission from Mr. Ribeiro for the use of his likeness and iconic intellectual property.”
Do you think they actually have a case here? Check out both dances side by side:
This isn't the only lawsuit going on against a video game right now either:
