Tomorrow the boys of Weezer release their 13th album, "The Black Album!" This comes after the release of "The Teal Album," and after this you'd think the guys could use a bit of a break right?
In fact it appears that the band is already preparing TWO more albums! Yup, in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, frontman Rivers Cuomo has revealed that albums 14 and 15 are already being worked on!
So, what's the plan? Well, one would be BIG epic guitar driven rock songs, and others would be lighter and more piano based. He even shared some working titles!
“What I’ve been working on the last two weeks is back to big guitars. The working title isVan Weezer. The inspiration came from our live shows, where, in the middle of ‘Beverly Hills’, unlike on the album, everything stops and I just break out with this crazy guitar solo. We noticed that, recently, the crowd just goes crazy when I do that. So it feels like maybe the audience is ready for some shredding again.”
Then of the second album he says, “Van Weezer is in mortal combat with Okay Human, a record that’s mostly done. That one’s totally different. It’s inspired by an album from 1970 called Nilsson Sings Newman. It’s all piano-based, but it has a ton of orchestration. We just did the strings at Abbey Road. It’s just gorgeous melodies and extremely eccentric lyrics.”
Wow! So how soon might we hear these songs? I mean, keep in mind that "The Black Album" had been delayed for quite some time there, but the guys still kept us very occupied with music while we waited. Who knows what will happen here!
For now take another listen to their newest track from tomorrow's release:
