Shroom got married at Graceland, held his reception at the Elvis Presley Car Museum, and named his kids Eli Elvis and Presley Grace. So yes, he’s a big Elvis Presley fan. He’s an even bigger radio fan. At 15, he tagged along to watch a high school classmate host a Sunday morning show, and the moment he walked into that studio, he knew this was his life. Soon after, the station owner offered him a job. That was 1996, and he’s done it all since, from solo and co-hosted mornings to afternoon drive, nights, and overnights, plus music director duties, across rock, alternative, classic rock, Top 40, adult contemporary, and country. He’s interviewed Metallica’s James Hetfield, visited Metallica headquarters in San Francisco, and spent more than two decades with iHeartMedia.
Off the air, the Saint Marys, Ohio, native is a thrill-seeker with a Six Flags Platinum Pass and a serious roller coaster habit, and he’s always up for a trip to the movie theater. At home, there’s a parrot named Skylar and two canaries, Hawkins and Sunny. He donates blood, runs on pizza and flavorful black coffee, and loads his playlist with Metallica, Queen, Avenged Sevenfold, Falling in Reverse, and Third Eye Blind. Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is untouchable, and he’s not shy about being a massive Dua Lipa fan. Tune in and expect energy, positivity, and a few minutes to forget about your worries.
