Kermit the Frog to Give University of Maryland's 2025 Commencement Speech

Kermit the Frog, the iconic Muppet created by Jim Henson, will deliver the commencement address at the University of Maryland on May 21. Henson, who graduated from the university in 1960, made the first Kermit puppet out of his mother's coat and a pingpong ball. UMD President Darryll Pines expressed excitement about Kermit's appearance, noting the special connection between the university and the Muppets. Kermit himself expressed enthusiasm for speaking at the university and offering words of encouragement to the graduating class of 2025.
